About Zaynab Chowdhury
A British Bangladeshi, young author and the youngest Civic Award recipient of Tower Hamlets. She was born and raised in the heart of London amongst the most populated Bangladeshi community.
Zaynab’s interest in books became an addiction since she was in pre-school. She would come home, unzip her bag, take out a little guide to reading books and read it over and over again. One of the first books she read was ‘Saffy’ by Paola Opal.

Zaynab made a habit of carrying a book wherever she went. Whether she was waiting for an appointment, sitting outside an office while her father finished a meeting, or even accompanying her family on a shopping trip, a book was never far from her hands. While others browsed through clothes and accessories, Zaynab would quietly retreat to a peaceful corner and lose herself in the pages of her latest read. Nothing filled her with more excitement than receiving a fiction book as a gift; her face would light up with joy, and she could hardly contain her enthusiasm. Books were, without a doubt, her greatest treasure.

Family
Zaynab Chowdhury is the eldest of the three siblings. She is the precious daughter of two proud parents, Mr Hasan Chowdhury and Mrs Nadira Chowdhury, who have supported and nurtured her talents every step of the way. Zaynab is deeply loved by everyone around her.
She comes from a family with a powerful legacy, a family rooted in education, service, and sacrifice. Her grandfather, Tawhidul Islam Chowdhury (Retired Superintendent at the Office of the Controller and Auditor General), established a secondary school for girls in Komolganj, Moulvibazar, offering free education to those who otherwise may never have had the chance to learn.
Her grandmother, Mrs Runa Begum (B.A. B.Ed), dedicated her life as a respected deputy secondary school teacher, shaping and guiding generations of students with knowledge and wisdom.
Zaynab’s father, Hasan Chowdhury, is deeply engaged in voluntary and civic service and served as the Governor of a school in London, chair of a charity and founder of institutions.
Zaynab Chowdhury hails from the distinguished family of Salim Bari, part of the historic Salimgonj in Alinagar Union, Komolganj Upazila, Moulvibazar District. Her family heritage, rooted in tradition and service, has been a source of pride and inspiration, with a lifelong commitment to public service and community development.
