Some children discover their passions at an early age and begin shaping dreams far beyond their years. While some excel in sports, music, or science, others find their voice in the world of words and creativity. Twelve-year-old British-Bangladeshi author Zaynab Chowdhury belongs to the latter group.
At just 12 years old, Zaynab has already published her second book, A Leap Into The Unknown, marking another remarkable milestone in her literary journey. The book was officially unveiled at the 14th Bangladesh Book Fair 2026 in London, where her achievement received widespread appreciation from the British-Bangladeshi community.
The book launch took place at the Brady Arts and Community Centre in London. Among those present were Bangla Academy Award-winning author Rupa Chakraborty, Swanlea School’s Head of Year Miss Mrvic, Cabinet Member Councillor Faisal Ahmed, Councillor Minara Khatun, Councillor Abdul Mannan, teacher Miss O’Neill, journalist AKM Abu Taher Chowdhury, translator Anisuzzaman, and several distinguished figures from literary, cultural, and community circles.
Zaynab is already known as one of the youngest British-Bangladeshi recipients of a Civic Award in Tower Hamlets. Speakers at the event noted that by publishing two books at such a young age, she has demonstrated that age is never a barrier to creativity and achievement. Her dedication, imagination, and sense of social responsibility make her an inspiring role model for young people.
During the event, Zaynab received the Young Literacy Excellence Award in recognition of her literary accomplishments.
Congratulatory messages also poured in from different quarters. In a message, Tower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman said, “Congratulations on the publication of your second book. Your dedication to literature at such a young age makes us all proud.”
Addressing young attendees at the event, Zaynab said, “I believe education is not only about achieving good grades in examinations; it is also about personal growth and moving forward towards our dreams.”
